Norris Tops Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice
The British driver has outscored Oscar Piastri at all of the previous five race weekends.
Lando Norris edged out team-mate and title rival the Australian for the fastest time in the final moments of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
Norris, who took the points lead from Piastri by one point after his victory in Mexico City two weeks ago, outpaced the Melbourne-born driver by 0.023 seconds.
Before then, Piastri had been the leading McLaren during the running before the sprint shootout due at 6:30 PM GMT.
Max Verstappen, the other racer in the championship fight, sitting 36 points behind Norris, was classified in P17 as his team opted for a unique setup.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to crash, if briefly, when he spun at the fourth corner during the early running.
Tsunoda spun out over the exit kerbs before rotating through the escape zone, and was blessed to escape with just a minor contact of the fence.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the conclusion of the practice, turning around through the high-speed corner approaching the final bend on to the pit straight.
The veteran finished practice in 19th place, just behind team-mate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren pair were significantly quicker of the other competitors, with the German's car P3, 0.619 seconds behind Piastri's best.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was fourth quickest, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto fifth from Mercedes' George Russell and Alpine's Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
